In order to symbolise the growing presence of SWISS in Romandy in Western Switzerland, the airline named an airbus A320 after Bulle. It is the main municipality of Gruyère in the French-speaking part of the canton of Freiburg. The aircraft was christened by Paralympic medalist Jean-Marc Berset, a resident of Bulle.

The christening ceremony for the "Crans-Montana" was held in the Valais Alps. This spectacular event was attended by British actor and former "007", Sir Roger Moore. The "Crans-Montana" airbus pays tribute to the airline's presence in Western Switzerland and at Geneva airport.
The airbus "Grenchen" was christened at the airport of the same name, where Swiss Aviation Training trains the SWISS pilots.
Richterswil on Lake Zurich was home to the winner of a competition organised for the European Football Championship in 2008 in Austria and Switzerland. Former Swiss national trainer Köbi Kuhn was among the guests at the christening of the "Richterswil" airbus.
It makes sense that Kloten, the site of SWISS's home airport Zurich, should lend its name to a SWISS airbus. Kloten is about 10 km from the centre of Zurich and is the main Swiss hub for international travel.

Swissair Musik, founded in 1958 by members of staff, is now the "Swiss Band – Concert Band of SWISS International Air lines". The band entertained crowds at the 2011 Watterfäscht to mark the christening of the SWISS airbus "Regensdorf". Regensdorf is a small town near Zurich airport.
